Kevin's Musings: A Review of January
Finishing my focus project, starting my journey in AI, completing final exams, and receiving a university decision.
What I Did
Typically January is a busy month for high schoolers - at least in Canada. I had to study for two exams - Chemistry and Religion- and prepare a presentation for CO-OP which counted as an exam. Chemistry took the most time for me to study for but I enjoyed the process. In the end, I did very well on the exams which gave me a lot of satisfaction.
My biggest achievements this month were related to my focus project - making solar energy more affordable and accessible to people in Africa and underserved communities. In my hypothesis, I suggested using AI subsidy models to determine which people receive subsidies to use solar energy and other necessities. The aim is to help the poorest people who suffer from extreme poverty and improve their standard of living significantly.
At this point, I am reaching out to experts to certify my focus and companies that I want to potentially intern at in the summer. At the same time, I have decided to intersect my interest in artificial intelligence with renewable energy.

BBOXX is one the top companies in Africa working on financing for solar energy.
What’s Next?
After completing my first project in the domain of renewable energy, I am now looking intersect my interests in climate change and artificial intelligence.
In the coming month, I will:
Write an article on Google Deepmind and their work on wind energy optimization
Do a project mostly likely on weather forecasting
