March was an absolute blast for me. I had the opportunity of competing in the TKS Global Challenge where we consult with emerging and influential companies.
We had three companies to choose from: Samsung, Maverick BioMetals, and Microsoft.
Normally, groups would select one company to consult with. We were bold. We took on the challenge of creating two consulting decks for two companies. Luckily, we found a solution that could apply to both Maverick Biometals and Microsoft.
Microsoft was looking to find innovative ways that could cool their data centers sustainably. Maverick was looking to work in new industries that could use biological processes to maximize sustainability.
With some extensive research, we found out that Microsoft should utilize a enzyme called carbonic anhydrase in a closed-loop reaction that would cool data centers chemically.
We also concluded that it is commerically viable for Maverick to produce these enzymes for big-tech companies who rely data centres.
In the end, after many hours of research and designing, our group submitted our decks with pride and passion.
A few weeks later, we were notified that we were advancing to TKS Global Finals for both companies. This is the first time in TKS History that this has happened.
I would like to shoutout Avantika, Deena, Suditi, and Nabiha for being such awesome teammates!

The other exciting that happened in March was my Reach For the Top Competition. If you didn’t know, Reach for the Top is a trivia competition for Canadian high schoolers. The games are very competitive and fun at the same time. Our school has not made it to the provincial level in 13 years.
Our team had nothing lose when we were going into regional playoffs. With a stroke of luck, our team dominated the competition - even the powerhouse schools.
We reached the finals and we were up against Northview Heights Secondary School. The winner goes to provincials. Guess who won? It was us.
In May, our team will compete in provincials. I am very excited.
In April, TKS students will work on their moonshot project - an idea that solves a huge problem with a breakthrough technology that affects millions worldwide.
My current idea is centred around clean energy and agriculture. Stay tuned for an update next month where I will reveal more.
